Fort Ransom State Park consists of about 900 acres, most of which is open to horseback riders. All of the park's trails except for the Riverside Trail near the East Side campground are open to horseback riders, and riders are welcome to explore off the trails as well.. However, we do ask that horses not be taken into the East and West Side Campgrounds or the Family Picnic Area near the Visitor's Center.

Horse Corrals I and Camp Areas
I
The park has two sites designed specifically for horseback riders. These areas are the Sunne Farm Horse Corrals and Camp Area and the Riverside Horse Corrals and Camp Area. Each of these areas consists of eight 15' by 15' pens, vault toilet, water hydrant and tank, fire rings, picnic tables and manure bin.

The pens can be reserved at no charge. Reservations are made through by calling the park at (701)-973-4331. If the pens are in use, riders may bring portable corrals or tie to horse trailers. Do not tie to trees.
There are no electrical hook-ups or showers at the Sunne Farm or Riverside Camping Area. Campers in these areas are welcome to use the comfort station in the West Side Campground. Please clean up your hay and manure before you leave.
Fort Ransom State Park does not have rental horses.
